FEAR AND PHOBIA
Fear can be caused by something external, which you feel you need to avoid e.g. driving on a motorway, or it could be that some negative emotion that triggers your fear.
Phobia is much more extreme, and affects around one in ten people. One of the most common phobias is around spiders.
Also social phobia, which concerns being in public places.
In solution focused hypnotherapy sessions we introduce relaxation techniques, and they can be practiced at home. When you have become really used to going into deep relaxation, then we work on your particular issue using a technique called Rewind to take the emotional arousal from the situation.
A specific phobia is generally dealt with in four sessions, whereas if you have fear in many areas of your life this will take longer to treat effectively. At your initial consultation we will plan a strategy for dealing with your problem, and ridding you of the limitations on your everyday life.
