When people go to get talking therapy, they might expect to talk about their fears and worries. But that’s talking about what you don’t want, isn’t it?

I believe your time and energy is better spent on sending your thoughts and your imagination to the things you do want, rather than what you don’t want.

There are so many things on the To Do List, you probably don’t want it made any longer, so let me ask

• How about the things you already enjoy? Things that are already in your life, but maybe they’ve been gathering dust on the top shelf. Would you like to dust off one or two, and pick them up again? Why not check in with an old friend, or put your running shoes on

• What about your strengths? These are the things you already do well. What might your friends and colleagues say? What did you do previously to get you out of a hole?

• What resources are you already using? Going for a bike ride? Chatting to the dog? What do you already do to de-stress?

• Remembering where you find your inner calm is a small but useful step
